Celebrating the 12 sectors on film – “it’s all about the team!”

2025 has been another landmark year for marshalling, as well as supporting 2 global race events with record numbers of volunteer marshals, we also took the leap into film and video to capture the spirit of marshalling and help raise our profile on social media. We did this through intensive filming with our PR partners DOT Performance, who coordinated with CSMs to focus on each sector and get the filming “in the can” as quickly as possible. This was so that we could publish as quickly as we could to support and promote 2025 race events and we are very grateful to all the CSMs who made time to do filming at such a busy period.

Filming was arranged at pace with Chief Sector Marshals and, where it could be coordinated, we included shared CSMs and deputies in the filming when time allowed.

Given the speed at which filming was organised, there was one sector that wasn’t fully represented by their Chief Sector Marshals, namely Sector 6. This sector was filmed with Ashley Bates taking the lead, however, the sector is a shared one where Jane Merrett and Ashley Bates split the role equally and we want to make it clear that, although Jane isn’t included in the filming, she is nevertheless a key Chief Sector Marshal and we recognise her vital contribution and leadership in Sector 6. We are looking at opportunities for Jane to be involved in filming in 2026 plans.

The response to the 12 sector videos has been overwhelmingly positive, with over 800,00 views of them to date.

The movie night is a chance to sit back and enjoy the unique perspective of each sector around the course, and CSMs would be the first to say that the running of a sector, and the entire course, can only happen through teamwork, planning and effective working from every marshal that volunteers to help.

There are still tickets available for the evening so, if you can make it, please request them by emailing andyw@iomttmarshals.com

We hope to see you there.

Best wishes,

Jane Corlett & Andy Priestley

Chief Marshal.
