The context behind our rebrand.
We have been working hard getting ready for TT 2024.
The TT and MGP wouldn't go ahead without our loyal Marshals and we need to ensure we have enough Marshals available to run any event. It takes over 600 of us per session to ensure that the riders can race.
Data tells us that in order to meet this need in future years we should appeal to a wider audience of visiting bikers and Isle of Man residents to ensure we meet the recruitment figures and that the events run smoothly.
The Marshals have a strong visual identity on the track with our bright orange tabards already but feedback on the old logo was that it was unremarkable, something you wouldn't remember and was a dated solution to branding in the digital era.
Whilst we have worked hard over the years to add online registration, rostering systems and online training toward improving recruitment and safety around the event, our brand image had not been updated for too long!
Neither the brand, nor the website look and feel reflected the experiences of why a lot of people marshal or the excitement of the events.
As such we’ve been working on the website, the way it looks and feels and showcases what it means to be a TT Marshal.
In addition we’ve chosen a new logo mark that’s designed so that the human brain can recognise and recall it. We appreciate this is quite radical compared to the old non-logo and it's a large leap from where we were in 2023.
Here’s a few notes to put the logo into context…
- We wanted people to remember it, to be iconic.
- It’s been designed as a combination of the front of a bike and a symbol of the mountain course.
- Teal has been added as a secondary colour to highlight and support our primary colour orange inline with familiar racing colours.
As well as the additional branded items you will start to see over the coming months, you will see dedicated film crews at the marshalling points covering the Marshals' experience and changing our social media content throughout the event.
The hope is we build on our family, appeal to wider audiences, introduce a positive vibe around our brand and start to really showcase what it means to be an Isle of Man TT Marshal!
Altogether we hope these small initiatives will help keep the future of the TT and MGP strong and appreciate your positive support in growing the brand.
